Architecture - School of Art, Fashion and Design

Design is the core activity of architecture at UCLan; we aim to provoke debate, encourage diversity and develop advances in the subject, placing particular emphasis on conservation, sustainability and environmental issues. Students gain experience in all aspects of building design and construction, equipping them to meet the demands and needs of society.

To be recognised by the RIBA for offering a superlative student experience in state-of-the-art facilities is a huge boost to the team.

Highlights of our Architecture Courses

Architecture

Award Winning

Two UCLan architecture students were recently shortlisted for the most prestigious international student award in architecture - The RIBA Preseidents Medal.

Industry Teaching

Courses are delivered by a highly-skilled and experienced staff team and supported by guest lectures and industry contacts.

Environment

Architecture and architecture technology modules will be taking over space in the unused former Central Post Office in Preston – a listed building in the heart of the city’s historic markets area – to collaborate for the second year in this edgy ‘pop-up’ design fair.

Industry Links

This degree has been prescribed by both the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) for purposes of entry onto the UK Register of Architects.

Opportunities

Our courses are expected to lead to Part I recognition by the Architects Registration Board (ARB), allowing you to proceed on a path to become registered architects and ARB members.

Field trips

Last year, architecture students went on a tour of Venice, Vicenza and Verona. Their main intention was to spend time at the architecture biennale in Venice and attend events and lectures.
